All the Scriptures Speak of Jesus

One thing I’m constantly in awe of is the Bible’s unity. God is a master artist. He wove recurring images and themes into history that appear throughout the Bible—images and themes that culminate in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. The more I get to know the Bible, the more the beauty of this astounds me.

I encourage you to watch the video below, where Peter J. Williams introduces this topic (or get a two-minute taste of the talk here). From the video description:

One of the most powerful arguments for Christianity and for the inspiration of the Scriptures is the argument from prophecy. This sees Jesus not merely as “predicted” by specific sayings in the Old Testament, but more importantly as foreshadowed by the entire structure of the Old Testament narrative. The Old Testament makes the most sense when viewed in the light of Christ and thus points to its own divine origin.

As Williams explains in the video,

The way that Jesus correlates with the Old Testament is not peripheral—it’s not odd phrases taken from here and there; it’s actually the very central themes that we have of Jesus’ life fit with the very central themes we have in the Old Testament.
